The Fine Print

Although the scripts on this site are supplied for free, their use is not without some necessary conditions and limitations to protect the material and my interests in it as creator. The phrase"free to use" does not mean I relinquish any rights to them. Please read this page to familiarise yourself with the allowed uses and exceptions.

The following statement is at the bottom of each script. After it you will find additional details that expand upon the rights and possible fees for exceptions.

Rights Of Use

(NOTE: The following terms must be printed out and included with any and all copies of any scripts distributed to performers, director, etc.)

This and any other skit material on this site is copyrighted by Sheep Laughs Records. Use of their material is limited by the following terms:

  • You may print out and duplicate as many copies as you need to distribute to your performers, but republishing on the Internet, in print, or in any other manner is expressly forbidden. If you wish to share a script, link to it, please; but don't copy and publish it.
  • You may only print out the document in its original format, which contains the Sheep Laughs Records copyright information. If you need to alter or edit it, make sure that all copies printed retain the authorship and copyright info.
  • Recordings of the performance (video or audio) for resale is unlawful. You may videotape the production for your own purposes, however. No broadcast of the performance of this material may be made over television, internet or radio, without special permission, which depends on the authorship and copyright info also being posted. If it is part of a televised church service, permission is usually given, so please ask. Permission must be requested before posting on Youtube or any other Internet site. This depends on your including the authorship, copyright and a link to the site either on the video or in the video text description. If you post a video of it online without the authorship and origin, I will ask you to take add such or take it down.
  • The right of live performance of this sketch is granted at no charge on the express condition that you inform Sheep Laughs Records of your intent to do so, via email or other communication. The right of live performance is limited to productions for churches, Christian schools, church events, or ministry teams and the like. Call or email if you have any questions about this.
  • It may not be used in any event where there is a charge for viewing or presenting the material, unless special permission is asked and given. If the funds raised are to benefit a church or church project, and not for the performers, then permission is usually granted with no trouble.

Using a free script to make money is a no-no!

As noted, you cannot charge for your performance, or charge admission for viewing it, or making recordings for resale. The scripts are supplied for you to use at no charge. If you personally make money off of the performance, this is unfair use. (For example, a traveling comedy or drama team that charges or receives offerings as payment for their performance. Such as this should have their own original material anyway.) However, when permission is asked, in the cases where it is given, these conditions may apply:

1. Charging for a performance or charging admission to view it

A fee for using the material may be charged by Sheep Laughs Publications. The flat rate for single performances is $25 per script.

2. Videotaping the material for resale

If any video copies of the service that include the skit performance are made to be sold to the church's congregation (as some churches do on a regular basis), permission is usually given, but NO rights are given for mass production, duplication or resale.

You must ask permission and it must be granted for any of the above conditions to be in effect.

I quite often get requests from churches presenting a drama to raise money for the church or the youth department. I do need to be asked to grant special permission, but it is usually given because no individual is making money from it.

If you have questions or wish to seek permission according to the above listed conditions, please email me or call me.
