Permission is freely given for you to use these scripts, within the conditions set forth at the bottom of each one. (Please read the usage conditions before proceeding.) There is no need to ask for further permission. However, if you decide to perform any of them, use the form on the email page and let me know that you intend to use them. Tell me which scripts, who you are, and where you will be performing them. There is no charge for your use of these scripts if you abide by this simple requirement.

Please note, there are also special music and sound effects CDs for many of the scripts that will enhance your performance! Information about how to order the soundtrack CD is on each script page that has one (not all need a soundtrack), or you may go to the "Soundtrack CD" page directly.

NOTE: The sale of soundtracks is how this site is supported, and enables me to bring you free scripts. If a skit calls for a soundtrack (not all do), buy it to make your skit better (the way it was written to be done) and to help me continue offering this resource! If you are going to put the time and effort into doing one of these skits, why not make it worth it and do it right?

Doing a skit without the soundtrack made for it means the performance will be far less than it could be (especially the song/skit combinations; doing them without the soundtracks is akin to performing a song without the music, by just speaking the lyrics). After all, it was written specifically to use certain effects and music to maximize the drama and humor. Doing it plain, without the music and effects made for it, can result in your efforts falling flat. If you don't have the effects and music needed, what are you going to do? Skip over that part and forget it? For the Lord's sake... Do it the best it can be!

Got a question about using a soundtrack? Go here and found out why you should!

Age Group Information:

Just about all of these scripts are written to be performed by either teens, young adults or adults of any age. They are written to appeal to youth and adults. They are not specifically written for children. Children's skits, to be done by and for young kids, take a different writing approach, and are not what I offer here. However, many have done them using kids, and certainly all ages will enjoy them.

If you are only looking for simple skits for small children, these will probably not be what you need. However, if you are seeking funny and interesting scripts to do for your mixed-age church audience, for your youth group, young adult or adult drama team to perform, you're in the right place!

Note: If you are looking for longer scripts that what I have here, with more characters for larger groups, consider this; do three or more of the shorter scripts, maybe with a special song inbetween, to fill the time. The audience interest can be kept much easier with a variety-type program, rather than one long production.

Keep This In Mind...

When planning for holiday events such as Valentine's Day or Mother's Day, don't feel obligated to choose a script that specifically addresses the holiday. You don't need a skit about Valentine's Day to do one at an event celebrating it. That is limiting your entertainment and ministry choices. Feel free to choose a script based on an idea and topic different from the focus of the holiday.

What the attendees are looking for is an interesting and enjoyable drama presentation. They won't mind if the program includes elements that don't specifically relate to the holiday. However, if you feel the need to include some aspect of the holiday, you can alter the scripts to reflect it. A simple mention of it, or changing a few lines to have it happen on the holiday, are often enough.

Here are the skit scripts:

"The Battle of the Sexes: Round One"
In this "post-fig leaf" script, the world's first couple hit their first speed bump on the road to martial... uh, marital bliss. After being evicted from the Garden of Eden, will they ever get over blaming each other? About 8-10 minutes in length, this light, humorous, but ultimately touching skit, is great anytime, but perfect for Valentine's Day.

"The Creature In The Closet"
(Special NEW Sweethearts Version, for
Valentine's Day!)
What is the nasty little monster that is hiding in Ron's closet? And how is it coming between him and his girlfriend? A
parable comedy skit about the dangers of unforgiveness. Something stinks in this guy's house, and it ain't his socks. This 8-10 minute script uses four people.

"Mama's Close Call!"

Written for
Mother's Day, but good any time, this skit will have everyone in stitches! Mama, settling in for a nice quiet evening with her TV, gets more excitement than she bargained for -or wanted- when her writer son drops in. Getting all choked up -literally- over his tribute to mothers, Mama wonders: will she ever get to watch her movie, or will she end up in the hospital? A hysterical 8-10 minute sketch with a heart!

New!

"How To Be Spiritually Fit"
A gullible fellow orders an advertised program to help him be spiritually fit in one easy lesson. But the lesson is far from easy as he learns, the hard way, that there are no shortcuts on the road to spiritual health. A painfully funny two-person skit that runs about 15 minutes.

New!

"Mama Knows Best!"
Now available, a
Mother's Day version of the above-described skit "How To Be Spiritually Fit," featuring the same characters from the incredibly popular "Mama's Close Call!" When Mama's son Little Louie buys a "do-it-yourself" spiritual fitness program for her, things don't go as he planned. Click here to read this hysterical script!

New!

"The Crate Escape!"
What is in the mysterious box that Mr. Hunter brings to town? That's what Jerry wants to know, and when he takes the bait, the trap snaps shut. A parade of people with mistaken advice only makes things worse. Will curiosity kill the cat or will Jerry somehow escape to tell the tale? A fun, dramatic 15+ minute mini-play about the bondage of sin; with 4 major and 6 minor parts. (Note: this script would be great to use during
Black History Month, to make the point that slavery is a state that many people find themselves in today, by being in bondage to sin. Use the opportunity of discussion about the past during the event to get a ministry message across today that is truly needed.)

"The Great Church Robbery"
Inspired by "How The Grinch Stole Christmas, this is a short yet powerful presentation guaranteed to bring a smile to their lips and a tear to their eyes! It can be done as
a dramatic reading or acted out to the recording or live narration. Done by many for Christmas and Easter, it can be done at any time for a short presentation if you want something simple but very moving.
(Features a track from our album for preview.) 6 minutes.

Complete Play!

"Jerusalem's Most Wanted."
Detailing Peter's deliverance from prison and certain death by an angel in the Book of Acts, this dramatic, yet sometimes humorous script is our biggest yet! Utilising up to nearly 20 people and lasting 20-25 minutes, this full-fledged five-act play demonstrates the continuing impact that Christ's resurrection had on those who lived through it.
Great for something different on Easter!

New!

"The Guy With the Cardboard Christ"
While relaxing in the park, a man is approached by a smiling fellow carrying a life-sized cardboard cutout of Jesus. A strange, but immensely amusing story emerges as he attempts to share his very personal (and very silent) Savior with his skeptical listener. A funny two-person skit, about 8-10 minutes in length, that puts shallow faith in a new light!

New!

"The Pastor's Barbeque"
When some disgruntled church members call a secret meeting to plan the removal of their "meddling" pastor, the party is crashed by a mysterious Stranger who sets them straight in a way they'll
never forget! Based on the popular radio release of 2003 by Prime Example, this powerful and funny 6 minute song/skit hybrid is great for Pastor Appreciation Day or anytime.

New!

"The Stupid Dummy's Guide To Higher Self-Esteem"
Well, she's just had her first book published on the subject of self-esteem. Now, it's her first book-signing at a local bookstore. But her own self-esteem, as well as her philosophy on how to increase it, take a real beating! Lasting about 10-15 minutes, and using just about everyone in your drama team, this funny script will give your actors something to put their teeth into.

New!

"The Audition"
Wanting to cross over into secular entertainment, a Christian actor tries out for the role of an action hero in a major motion picture. Torn between his standards and the desire to get the role, the aspiring "new Eastwood" finds that being a crossover artist puts him on the wrong side of the fence. Lasting about 10 minutes, and using three people, this skit is easy to do, and is a powerful witness about the price of compromise.

New!

"A Canvas of Lies"
We've heard it said that the Devil can paint a pretty picture. As it turns out, he's a decent painter after all. During a TV interview about his new gallery exhibition, Mr. Zee reveals the secret of his artistic success. But before it's over, more is revealed than he counted on! Running about 10 minutes and using 3 main actors, two bit parts and some extras, this "colorful" skit will put the truth on display in a humorous way.

New!

"The Deejay's Dilemma"
All ready for a rockin' radio show, a shock-jock-wannabe DJ finds his style cramped by a new preaching program on the Sunday schedule. As the preacher delivers his sermon, and the DJ tries to distract himself, he begins to realize that something strange is going on. How does this simple preacher, who is a complete stranger, know so much about him? Runs about 10 minutes.

"A Day To Remember"
This is a serious drama script that uses the World Trade Center attack as a looming backdrop to an intimate drama. Running 8 to 10 minutes long, it is a powerful reminder that God is in control even when things are looking bad. It also brings a strong message about not putting off salvation. Read it to see if you want to perform this relevant script, in which the revelation of where the characters are comes as surprise ending to viewers not aware of this synopsis.

"Crazy For Christ"
A young Christian applying for a position at a mental hospital suddenly
finds his sanity being questioned because of his faith. Will he end up staying as a patient instead of an employee? Running about 8-10 minutes, this skit uses 6 people and one very large needle (supplied).

"The Sheep's Clothing Store"
Wandering into a new store, a church-going customer begins to realise that things are not as they seem. Could the proprietor, Mr. Wolfe, have an ulterior motive in selling his fashion line?
Not everyone dressed like a Christian is one. This is where they shop. A funny but direct skit that runs about 8-10 minutes and uses four people.

"The Gift"
An elderly lady is admitted to a nursing home. Her fruitful days of puppet ministry are coming to a close, but something magical happens!
Written specifically for a female ventriloquist/actress, this script is limited in who can perform it, but it's an idea I've had for awhile. Maybe there is a lady out there reading this who has that kind of ministry, that might enjoy doing the script. But if you can't do it, read it anyway, and be sure to have a hanky handy!
It might have you blubbering like a big fat baby.

"The Man With The Shellfish Heart"
Here's a script that only takes two people to perform, yet it's packed with humor and pathos. A private detective, looking for the heir to a great fortune, stumbles on a sad, depressed shell of a man who has had his heart broken. Insensitive at first, the Christian P.I. begins to realise that his own heart has been clammed up about God's love for too long. (Features a track from the Prime Example album for preview!) Runs about 8-10 minutes, and is great for Friendship Day.

This is one of our hottest skits right now!

"The Red Tie Club"
A man, trying to get in an exclusive club without the proper attire, tries everything in his power to get the doorman to let him in. The lesson he learns about the requirements to enter are a powerful parable about the efforts man makes to get into heaven. Get into this easy-to-do
(and increasingly popular) 8-10 minute skit
here! (Features a track from the Prime Example album for preview!)

"Live From The Battlefield"
A Christian reporter interviews a Soldier of the Lord at the front of the battle. In the face of the fierce fighting and the soldier's dedication, the reporter learns the importance of the armor of God and personal commitment. One of our most-performed scripts, running about 8-10 minutes. (Features a track from the Prime Example album for preview!)

"Assignment: Witness!"
The interaction between a believer and a non-believer at a bus stop is influenced by unseen (to them) spiritual beings representing both sides. The very real powers of Heaven and Hell are seen as they strive for a soul. Churches all across the country have performed this one! Runs about 10 minutes.

"Assignment: Hindrance!"
This short skit follows the chance meeting of a couple of demons, Scuzzy and Sleazy, as they converse about the ups and downs of being assigned to hinder Christians. Funny, direct and easy-to-do, this script goes great as a follow-up sequel to "Assignment: Witness," or stands alone. 6-8 minutes.

"In The Shadow Of Death"
This script is not quite as humor-oriented as the others, (although it does have funny moments) but it's very effective in the portrayal of the ways people try to avoid facing the fact that a dark predator is stalking them. Click the title to read "In The Shadow of Death," a short work that can briefly employ as many as eleven actors. Good for some chills, with guaranteed goosebumps at the end! About 10 minutes.

"Attack of the Monster Tongue"
Looking for something short but hard-hitting and fall-down funny? Why not perform our radio hit song with skit elements, "Attack of the Monster Tongue?" Lots of others around the country have; puppet teams, singing groups, drama teams, and more. You'll cackle and chortle over this story of Gossips Gone Wild! (Features a track from the Prime Example album for preview!) About 6 minutes long.

"The Tell-Tale Talent"
Relaxed in his passive inactivity, Stan gets a rude awakening when the talent he has buried years ago comes back to haunt him! Perfect for October fall festivals, but good any time of the year, this short-but-scary script can put as many as 10 actors to work for about 10-12 minutes. (Features the track from our album for preview!)

"Tricks or Treats: Scare vs Scare"

A seasonal script. A Christian wife takes the opportunity to hand out Gospel tracts with the candy for Halloween: "share," but her husband has a different idea: "scare!" Will the kids get "tricked" or "treated?" And what about the neighbors that pop in unexpectedly? A short, fun
(and very easy-to-do) skit that uses 4 adults and a half-dozen kids (that come to the door.)

"Testimony Show"
An announcer at a Christian radio station opens the phone lines to give his listeners an opportunity to share their testimony. His emotional state comically deteriorates as the calls instead become a testimony to defeat, trouble and thanklessness! This 5-6 minute song with skit elements is performed to music, and works great for Thanksgiving. Also great for puppet teams, and combinations of drama team/singing group. (Features a track from our album for preview!)

"How Nick Became a Saint!"
Under observation by the unseen angel assigned to him, department store clerk Nick is drafted to be a fill-in Santa. Enduring demands and abuse by the kids in line, his holiday cheer melts like a snowflake on a griddle. But then he gets the best present he ever received, from the most unlikely source; a little girl on his knee who shows him where the true joy of Christmas comes from. Kids and adults can be part of this one! 8-10 minutes.

"Crisis on the Holiday Helpline"
The Holiday Helpline is set up to help people facing despair, despondency and depression during the holidays. But without the Lord, what hope can the counselor give? What if he's worse off than the callers? A short, VERY easy to do skit that needs only one person onstage, and one offstage on a microphone! Funny and effective, with a powerful salvation scene. Also available in a Thanksgiving Version. 8-10 minutes.

"Live From Downtown"
Looking around for the perfect short comedy Christmas skit for that holiday banquet or service? Well, look no more! Here is the script for one that's 10 to 12 minutes, that can use 13 or more people (8 actors and a group of carolers). This script is just right if you're looking for a short but funny (and meaningful) Christmas presentation. It has been our most popular Christmas skit so far. Check it out!

"The Cowboy Carl and Pal the Wonderdog Radio Christmas Special"
Read the hilarious two-person script, "Cowboy Carl and Pal the Wonder Dog's Radio Christmas Special," by clicking the title. This one is different, in that you get to produce a "live radio show" right in front of the audience! It also combines the fun of a puppet skit by making one of the characters a puppeteer. You've never seen -or performed- a skit as unique as this one! About 15 minutes long.

"New Year's Eve at the Bad Habit Club"
A group of Bad Habits, temporarily displaced due to New Year's Resolutions, gather to celebrate and wait until the resolutions are broken and they can go home. But when the unthinkable happens, things go from bad to worse for the motley crew! A funny skit about 10 to 12 minutes long that uses 7 people.

Sometimes you just want something you can do real quick.
