"Let's SKIT Crazy!"©

Chances are you've found this site after searching the web for high-quality, Bible-based, original and fun skit scripts for you or your church's drama team to perform.

Well... here they are! Imaginative scripts that are excitingly -and refreshingly- different. And, incredibly, they're provided free of charge! How? By also making available soundtrack CDs you can purchase to make your performance much more exciting, professional, and effective!

This site is for you; the drama team director, actor or youth worker!

Scripts that are: Challenging... Encouraging... Evangelical... and Entertaining!
About The Webmaster, Fred Passmore: Writer, performer and national radio program producer, Fred is owner of the independant Sheep Laughs Records label. He operates this site to provide original scripts and specially-recorded soundtracks to churches, youth groups and drama directors. Also making available the comedy albums he has produced, his hopes are that this site will meet the need of the many people searching for high-quality scripts.

About The Site...

We are currently seeing anywhere from 300-500 hits a day. Thanks for helping make this site one of the most popular destinations for Christian skit scripts! I hope that you find a lot of scripts that you like, and that you join the many, many hundreds of people across America that have done these sketches for their church. (See the Testimonials Page for some comments.)

There are presently 40 scripts posted on this site, available on the Scripts Page. The most recently added ones are listed below. Quality is emphasized over quantity. These are not your typical "two people stand and talk a couple of minutes" type of simple skits... but each one is written to conform to the same high standards for content, imagination and humor as the comedy CDs I produce. If it's not good enough for a CD project, I won't put it here for you to use in live performances!

Every script has been performed many times (see the Testimonies Page), and many of them have in fact been recorded and produced for the Sheep Laughs Records comedy albums.

Many of the scripts have a CD available for purchase that supplies the sound effects and musical backgrounds called for in the scripts. Free scripts and soundtrack CDs you can order if you wish... a skit-tastic idea!

What's New?

Added the new script, "How To Be Spiritually Fit" on 9-6-05. Enticed by an infomercial on TV, a gullible guy orders Miss Fitt's exercise program, hoping to achieve quick results. As he tries out the program in the home of a friend, he learns the predictably painful lesson that there are no shortcuts on the road to spiritual health! A truly hilarious two-person skit that runs about 15 minutes. (Also now available in a Mother's Day version, titled "Mama Knows Best," using the same characters from the incredibly popular "Mama's Close Call!" If you've already done that one, this is a great sequel.

Added the new "Sweethearts" version of "The Creature In The Closet" script for Valentine's Day. Ron has something ugly hiding in his house, and it has come between him and his girlfriend. What is it, and why is it so dangerous? Can he get rid of it before it destroys his relationship and his life? A comedic parable about the effects of harboring unforgiveness in your heart, that runs about 8-10 minutes and uses 4 people. Funny, touching and a little scary!

Added the new script, "The Crate Escape!" on 8-29-05. In a parable about being freed from the bondage to sin, a foolish fellow falls prey to a tempting trap, and is unable to escape! Can the parade of people offering advice actually do any good? Running about 15 minutes, this fun and dramatic mini-play can use 10 actors (for 4 main and 6 smaller parts) plus some extras. Great for Black History Month programs! (Not addressing African-American history per se, but as the topic of slavery is discussed, the script can use the opportunity to minister to those in spiritual bondage today.)

Added the new script, "The Guy With the Cardboard Christ," on 2-7-05. While relaxing in the park, a man is approached by a smiling fellow carrying a life-sized cardboard cutout of Jesus. A strange, but immensely amusing story emerges as he attempts to share his very personal (and very silent) Savior with his skeptical listener. A funny two-person skit, about 8-10 minutes in length, that puts shallow faith in a new light. Note: Would work great for Easter!

All the rest of the scripts are posted on the Scripts Page. Kinda makes sense, don't it?

The owners of the excellent site ChristianForecasters.com wrote this about ChristianSkitScripts.com: "This is my favorite place to get scripts.  Our drama club has performed numerous plays from this site. They also have great CD's for sound effects and music that you can buy to go along with the Free scripts."

Thanks for the kind words and links, guys!

I get this kind of email comment all the time...

"This is the best page for Christian skits I've found on the web." -Lea Miller
Pequea, Pennsylvania

So why am I making them available for free? Usually, something free is either (1.) worth what you are paying, namely nothing, or (2.) there's a catch. Go to this page to find out, as Paul Harvey says, "the rest of the story" concerning the free nature of these scripts.

Our skit scripts and soundtrack CDs go together like a hotdog and a bun... why separate them?

Not only does this site offer some of the most unusual and fun skits anywhere, it also makes available professionally recorded and digitally mixed soundtracks to go with them! Find out why so many people are ordering them, and coming back as repeat customers for more. Go to the Soundtracks Information page!

"Hilarious, inventive, and powerful:" Prime Example comedy CDS!

"These guys produce some of the coolest comedy skits known to man!" -Christian comedian Mike Williams

Sheep Laughs Records is proud to make available several projects by Prime Example, the Christian comedy recording team of which I was part. You, your family and friends will enjoy the two CDs packed full of comedy skits and songs, many of which are fully produced versions of the scripts on this site. Buy the album CDs on this page and enjoy them the way they were originally recorded!

Once upon a time, a very hungry traveller stopped at a pastry shop. "I'd like an apple turnover," he said.

"Sorry," said the baker. "But the apple turnovers aren't quite finished baking yet. But here are dozens of other kinds I'm sure you'll love!" He showed the man tray upon tray of fresh fruit turnovers, pastries, cakes, pies, cookies, and all kind of wondrous goodies he had never tasted or even dreamed of.

"Please try a sample to see which kind you may like," invited the baker.

"Nope," said the man. "I came here for an apple turnover, and if you don't have what I'm looking for, I'm not interested in anything else."

"Please try some," begged the baker. "You'll love them. Everyone else loves them. I'll give you one for free of any kind, just so you'll try it."

"Forget it," said the man. "You don't have what I came here for, so I'll just go hungry."

And he left, just before the hot apples turnovers came out of the oven.

Moral: If you came here looking for a script on a particular theme, whether you found one or not, don't neglect the other many different skit ideas you may never have thought about before. Discovery of the different is one of life's pleasures, and you may miss out on much you would enjoy if you only focus on one thing.

Some of the scripts on our site have been adapted from Prime Example radio releases, such as "The Great Church Robbery," "Attack of the Monster Tongue," Testimony Show," etc. Much thought has been devoted to ways of making them performable by live groups, which offers varying degrees of complexity, and various soundtrack versions. But here's a new way to do them, easily and quickly: "Live Radio Style!" Check out the details on our new "LRS" page here!

Sunday School teachers: need some new activities to engage your students? Why not let Christian Skit Scripts help you out? Play a skit or comedy song from one of the "Prime Example" Christian Comedy albums (found on the Soundtracks page), followed by a class discussion, and scripture reference reading! Have them do out-loud readings of some of the scripts! They'll learn valuable lessons, and be entertained at the same time! Go to the new Classroom Helps page for some suggestions, tips, skit follow-up questions and scriptures, and the regularly-added "SPLAT" pages! What is "SPLAT," you ask? Go to this page to find out about this exciting new series!

Need Biblical Drama Costumes?

If you are doing any of the scripts here that require Biblical robes or Roman armor (like "Jerusalem's Most Wanted"), here is a new page with some links to websites where you can find them. These links are also helpful for any Biblical dramas or skits you may be doing already. Click here for them!

"Fear my mighty plastic sword!"

Listen to a song I wrote and produced recently, "Duck and Cover," which contrasts the world's solution for dealing with attacks and disasters, against the comfort and safety given to Christians by God's word! There's no doubt that the world is in upheaval and danger is on every side. How should the believer react? Narrated and sung by Bert the Turtle, and including actual outtakes from the 1950's Civil Defense film "Duck and Cover," this upbeat song is an atomic blast-from-the-past of fun! This, and many other skits and songs, can be found on the CD, "Comedy Cookout," available for ordering here.

FLASH! New Album On The Way!

I've just begun the process of producing a new "Sheep Laughs" comedy album, titled "Let's Skit Crazy!" Vol. 1. Bringing to life many of the new scripts posted here, the album will be as fun and inspiring to listen to as the scripts are to perform. Keep up with the progress on this page with pictures of the contributing voice talent, preview tracks, and more!

"The proof is in the pudding," goes the old saying, but when it comes to the effectiveness of these scripts, the proof is in the performance.

The Testimonials Page is overflowing with visitor email comments about the scripts they have used from this site, to great effect. Every day I get emails from people informing me that they are using a script. Here's a recent one...

Dear Fred,

We made our presentation of "The Crate Escape" last night, Oct. 30, 2005.  It was a wonderful experience.  This type of presentation was a first for our church.  The Holy Spirit was there to use our presentation to win at least one to Christ and also to bring some much needed laughter to a congregation that has been struggling with the resignation of its pastor and subsequent turmoil associated with finding a replacement.  Thank you so much for sharing your gifts with others.

The CD was excellent and worth every penny. I hope that we will be able to make similar presentations in the future. Your efforts ARE making a difference in the lives of others!!

Once again, thanks!

-Christine Games,
Edgewater Alliance Church in Kingsville, Ohio

Article 1: "My Philosophy of Sketch Art." What is a skit? Why is a skit? How are they written and how are they to be performed? These questions and more are addressed by Fred, the Christian Skit Scripts webmaster. After visiting this page, you may never look at a "simple skit" the same way again!

Article 2: "Can Comedy Be A Ministry?" (new!) Can Christian comedy be used of God, and is it a legitimate ministry? Written from my experience as a Christian comedian performer and writer, this article explores the reasons why it is sometimes viewed with distrust. It also explores the relationship between sketch art (skits) and the arts in general, as used within the church.

Article 3: "Skit or Sketch?" Which term do you use to describe what you find on this site? And does it really matter? Seems trivial, but this webmaster was taken to task by a visitor who took exception to the term "skit."

Article 4: "Recipe For a Skit Disaster!" Discover the finer points to cooking up a crummy skit performance.

Random Musings: A Continuing Collection

Thoughts on skits and their performance bounce around in my head constantly. Sometimes they spill out and I catch them in text form. This new page will collect them as they overflow in random manner, in the hopes that you can glean something helpful from them! Click here to read them. You can even call it a blog if it gives you a thrill to do so.

I recently did a survey of the hundreds of emails I have received informing me that a script is being used. I was pleased to find that many churches in ALL FIFTY STATES have used them, as well as over a dozen foreign countries. I'm truly thankful!

Just as an aside, the states that used a significantly greater number than the others are, in order, Texas, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Ohio. Medium-use states are Illinois, California, Georgia, Washington and Florida. Maybe it's just that Texas covers a larger area, or maybe they have more drama teams, but it took first place in the number of churches using scripts from this site. Go, Texas!

Here's A Fun Idea...

Got a videocam and a PC video-editing savvy drama team member ? Why not make a movie of some of these scripts?

Most of them would adapt themselves easily to being made as a film, especially those that come with a soundtrack CD with the music and effects supplied for you to mix in.

When it's done, show it on the sanctuary's overhead screen, and wow the congregation! A fun project that people will want to watch over and over for years to come. And they might even clamor for sequels!

I WANT YOUR VIDEOS AND PICTURES!

Have you done any of the skits from this site, or plan to? We want to see your videos or pictures! Go to this page to find out more...

Want to see pictures submitted by churches that have performed these skit scripts?
Go to the Submissions Page!

Have you worked hard on performing some of these skits, and after a great performance, wished you could do it again for other groups? Well, you've got the right idea! Take the soundtrack CDs, your familiarity with the scripts, and your team to other churches. Read more about it here.
